Our take on RIOT: Civil Unrest
Its defining structure is the two-sided scenario format: each confrontation can be approached from the police or rioter perspective, with forceful and restrained tactics affecting public opinion.
What is RIOT: Civil Unrest?
RIOT: Civil Unrest is a strategy game about confrontations between police and rioters.
Players take either side across thirty-two levels covering four campaigns based on disputes in Greece, Italy, Spain, and Egypt. Police units can use crowd-control methods, squads, vehicles, water cannon, tanks, and different ammunition types. Rioters can direct armed groups, passive protesters, and journalists, choosing between escalation, attacks, retreats, and attempts to calm the crowd. Scenarios set objectives, and performance is rated. Aggressive tactics can produce a fast result but may damage public opinion, while less forceful approaches can reach the same resolution. Single-player and same-computer versus modes are included. A level editor supports custom scenarios, with more than 700 objects and Steam Workshop sharing.
