AdventureIs Recourse worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Puzzle adventure players who want a long campaign with environmental challenges
- Co-op pairs looking for split-screen robot gameplay
- Players who want puzzles alongside enemy waves and combat objectives
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly linear experience may find the multiple modes, secrets, and unlocks distracting.
- Players who dislike extended puzzle solving may hit a wall in the 14 puzzle maps before reaching the combat-focused modes.
- Players looking for a short session may not suit the stated 25–30-hour core completion time.
Our take on Recourse
Puzzle-focused players may bounce off when Payload and Wave Rush require combat against Failbots rather than quiet problem solving. Action-focused players may hit the opposite wall in Puzzle mode, where progress depends on reaching checkpoints through environmental puzzles with few or no enemies.
What is Recourse?
Recourse is a puzzle adventure set on a desolate arctic planet populated by experimental AI units and discarded robots.
Players control Sleet, a sentient robot, and later work with Floe while investigating the planet’s mysteries. The core game includes 14 puzzle maps, five Payload levels, and five Wave Rush levels, with a stated completion time of about 25–30 hours. Puzzle mode focuses on reaching checkpoints, while Payload involves collecting Failbot CPUs and escorting a wagon. Wave Rush increases enemy difficulty across successive waves. Movement includes dashing, jet-boosting, grappling, and flying. Eight deployable tools interact with the environment, solve puzzles, or damage enemies. Split-screen co-op allows a second player to join or leave during play.
How Recourse plays
- 01Three game modes
- Puzzle, Payload, and Wave Rush use different objectives across the game’s levels.
- 02Eight deployable tools
- The tools can alter the environment, solve obstacles, or attack Failbots in different ways.
- 03Aerial mobility
- Sleet can dash, use jet propulsion, grapple, and fly rather than remain ground-bound.
- 04Split-screen co-op
- A second player may enter or leave a session while the game is in progress.
- 05Puzzle progression
- Completing puzzle levels opens additional modes and levels, while golden question marks contribute to unlocking WINTER.
- 06Enemy combat
- Payload and Wave Rush pit players against Failbots, with CPUs used to upgrade Floe.
