Our take on Rainbow Cotton
Rather than keeping arcade shooter action on a flat plane, the game places it in 3D stages with alternate routes. It also pairs a mode recreating the original experience with revised controls, localized anime scenes, and updated visual effects.
What is Rainbow Cotton?
Pilot Cotton through an arcade-style 3D shooter set across enchanted stages, including a moonlit town, a sunken forest, and a castle above the clouds.
Collect power-ups to strengthen projectile attacks, use magic such as fireballs and lighting, and fight large bosses with help from fairies. Alternative routes provide different paths through the stages. This re-release includes a Retro Mode that recreates the original experience, revised snap-back and lock-on controls, localized anime cutscenes, and visual updates with particle effects and ambient occlusion. Originally released on Sega Dreamcast in 2000, Rainbow Cotton is presented here as a worldwide re-release.
