Is Project Abyss worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who want underwater exploration with both diver and submarine sections
- Survival RPG fans interested in equipment progression and technology trees
- Players who enjoy destructible environments, bosses, and open-ended exploration
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a relaxed exploration game may hit a wall during encounters with bosses, turrets, and poisonous plants.
- Players who prefer a single, simple control scheme may struggle when switching between submarine systems and diver equipment.
- Players seeking a purely combat-focused game may find the exploration, wreckage swimming, tasks, and story notes interrupt the fighting.
- Players looking for a realistic underwater simulation may not want pixel-art presentation mixed with RPG upgrades and combat.
Our take on Project Abyss
The bounce point is the transition between submarine operation and diver excursions. Players must manage different equipment and activities, from turbines and weapons to swimming, drone calls, and repairs, before the exploration loop becomes familiar.
What is Project Abyss?
Explore the deepest part of the ocean as a diver using a mini-submarine, equipment, and combat tools.
The game combines survival RPG systems with open exploration across wreckages, sea life, enemy submarines, bosses, turrets, and poisonous plants. Loot money to buy equipment and upgrades across Survival, Attack, and Defence technology trees, complete tasks, unlock submarines, and collect notes that reveal the diver’s story. The underwater world includes a day/night cycle and destructible areas that can be opened with C4, drills, or torpedoes. Outside the submarine, the diver can call drones, repair the vessel, and swim through abandoned wrecks. Submarine controls include a simpler option, alongside turbines, claws, weapons, and drills.
How Project Abyss plays

- Spend collected money on equipment and upgrades grouped into Survival, Attack, and Defence paths.
