Our take on Post Trauma
Rather than making combat the sole answer to danger, the game allows threats to be bypassed. Its fixed cameras, save-room structure, and environment-led puzzles also replace the more direct action flow common in many modern horror games.
What is Post Trauma?
Post Trauma is a puzzle-focused survival horror game set in the Gloom, a surreal dimension reached by train conductor Roman after a panic attack.
Players explore horrifying environments through fixed camera angles, search for clues and tools, and solve escape-room-style puzzles by studying their surroundings; a pen and paper may be useful. Encounters with enemies can lead to combat using an array of weapons, but some threats can also be avoided. The story unfolds across several seemingly unrelated settings and uses multiple perspectives with a fully voice-acted cast. Save rooms support progression, with limited saving on hard mode. The game combines retro survival-horror conventions with visuals made through Unreal Engine 5, ambient audio, and a score by Nicolas Gasparini.
How Post Trauma plays
- 01Environmental Puzzles
- Progress depends on examining surroundings, interpreting clues, and finding tools in unexpected locations.
- 02Optional Combat
- Roman can use several weapons, although some encounters permit avoidance instead of fighting.
- 03Multiple Viewpoints
- The narrative follows more than one perspective and includes full voice acting.
- 04Hard-Mode Saving
- Save rooms remain available, while hard mode limits how often saving can be used.
