Our take on Ballionaire
The focus on board construction and effect combinations leaves little room for traditional exploration or character development. Runs also depend on adapting to changing layouts and Elder tribulations, so the game trades a fixed progression path for repeated experimentation.
What is Ballionaire?
Ballionaire is a physics-driven roguelike built around pachinko-style boards.
During each run, players drop balls that activate triggers, generate money, and create additional balls. New triggers are drafted between rounds, allowing different scoring and spawning setups. Three Elders impose tribulations and require tribute; failing their demands ends the run. Multiple boards, including the Pyramid, Danger Wheel, and Pinball table, change the layout and require different approaches. The game includes more than 145 triggers and 55 boons, a Laballatory sandbox for testing board ideas, and Steam Workshop support for Lua-based custom content. Players can also ban triggers or boons to adjust the tools available during a run.
