SimulationIs Pocket Boss worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Players who enjoy short, unusual data-manipulation games
- Fans of workplace satire who want chart-based puzzles
- Players seeking a 30–60-minute game with boss dialogue and promotion stakes
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a long campaign may reach the end after the stated 30–60-minute play time.
- Players looking for combat, exploration, or character progression may hit a wall at the chart-puzzle and workplace-dialogue structure.
- Players who want a broad business-management simulator may find the focus on chart interactions too narrow.
Our take on Pocket Boss
The bounce point arrives when chart manipulation becomes the central interaction. Players expecting a broad management system may hit the wall there, while those seeking a short sequence of workplace puzzles will encounter the intended structure immediately.
What is Pocket Boss?
Pocket Boss puts players in the role of a telecommuting worker who manipulates company figures for an exacting manager.
Charts in pie, bar, and scatter formats can be reshaped through gestures such as dragging, pinching, pulling, and pushing. Solving the puzzles changes figures tied to productivity, shareholder value, customer confidence, and losses. Dialogue with the manager may influence chances of promotion, while a separate thread explores equal-pay questions. The game blends office satire, visual data challenges, and managerial conversations into a session lasting 30–60 minutes. Mario von Rickenbach made the game from a concept supplied by Maja Gehrig, with Luc Gut responsible for the sound.
