Our take on Plebby Quest: The Crusades
The game trades a focused military campaign for a wider political structure. War is only one part of the play loop, alongside religion, negotiation, reputation, and decisions whose effects carry between Scenario and Sandbox modes.
What is Plebby Quest: The Crusades?
Plebby Quest: The Crusades is a strategy game played in turns and takes place during the Crusades across Europe and the Middle East.
Players govern a kingdom amid rulers pursuing empire, hostile neighboring states, and religious demands. In Scenario mode, events follow one character’s story; Sandbox mode lets players pursue conquest without restrictions. Decisions in either mode carry over to the other. Nearby kingdoms remember previous conduct and react to it, while serious mistakes can trigger dissent and conflict.
Each kingdom faces pressure from its religion to demonstrate its faith. Every June, representatives meet to condemn other faiths, intervene in wars, or call for a crusade. Players can sway the gathering through bribery, threats, and other schemes. Once battle begins, the choice is stark: burn the enemy or be burned.
