Our take on Planet R-12
The dual control system adds flexibility but requires attention to both squad positioning and individual combat. The small active team keeps each fighter involved, while the skill-centered battles leave less room for large-scale command or low-input play.
What is Planet R-12?
Planet R-12 is a 2D tactical shooter about seven persistent soldiers stranded on a planet populated by robots and hostile mechanisms.
Build a team of one to three fighters, equip weapons, use individual abilities, and battle more than 40 types of enemies and bosses. In tactical mode, issue movement commands while soldiers fight and activate their skills. Direct-control mode lets the player operate one fighter with keyboard and mouse controls while the others follow. Soldiers can be repositioned around the screen, and weapons can be discovered or upgraded. Abilities include freezing robots, shielding a soldier, calling a support bot, healing allies, increasing fire rate, and attacking nearby enemies. Destroyed robots can leave health, skill, damage, and weapon-related bonuses.
