Our take on Patch Quest
Instead of treating monsters only as enemies or collectibles, the game turns captured creatures into traversal and combat tools. Its maze also changes between runs, replacing a fixed metroidvania route with shifting terrain and repeated expeditions.
What is Patch Quest?
Patch Quest combines roguelike runs, metroidvania exploration, monster taming, and bullet-hell combat in a jungle labyrinth.
A lasso lets explorers capture and mount more than 50 monster species, each with distinct abilities for flying, swimming, leaping, surfing, webslinging, and combat. The island’s patchwork terrain reshuffles each night, changing the maze between runs. Defeat sends the explorer back to base camp, while exploration gadgets permanently expand available mechanics. Progress also includes collecting more than 200 plants and minerals, gathering ammo fruits, blending them into ammo smoothies, leveling up captured monsters, and opening gates and shortcuts to reach more dangerous zones. The game also presents a mystery surrounding the fall of Patchlantis.
