Our take on Genotype
The defining mechanic is printing living creatures from gloves, then using their distinct abilities as both weapons and tools for combat, traversal, and opening new routes.
What is Genotype?
Genotype is a first-person Metroidvania set in an abandoned Antarctic research facility overtaken by monstrous creatures.
The player explores interconnected, non-linear maps, gathers collectibles, finds lore, and opens new routes by unlocking printable creatures or items. Five living creatures serve as weapons and survival tools, including one that enables movement through narrow vents and another that tears apart obstacles. Combat includes varied enemies and boss encounters, while upgrades for the creatures and their gloves support different play styles. Four difficulty settings adjust loot amounts and ammunition costs. The game also includes accessibility options, a fully voice-acted story, atmospheric synth music, and lore to discover throughout the facility.
