RPGIs One Way Heroics worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Roguelike RPG players who enjoy runs shaped by a constantly approaching threat
- Players who want to explore procedurally generated worlds with changing encounters
- Players who like unlocking classes with different skills and advantages
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want to pause freely between actions may hit a wall when every move lets darkness advance.
- Players who prefer long, uninterrupted campaign saves may be frustrated that mid-game saves do not carry over through cloud saves.
- Players looking for a fixed world rather than generated dimensions may not enjoy the changing layouts and encounters.
Our take on One Way Heroics
The main pressure point is the left-to-right chase: every move or action gives the darkness more ground, so players who need time to explore each encounter may find the advancing boundary forces them onward.
What is One Way Heroics?
One Way Heroics is a procedurally generated RPG-roguelike in which an adventurer travels across a world to confront the Demon Lord.
Darkness advances from the left whenever the character moves or takes an action, pushing the journey toward the right. Along the way, a run can bring encounters with monsters, allies, thieves, and shops. Worlds vary, and players can choose a named dimension or enter a word to generate one. Multiple classes have different skills and advantages, while the Dimensional Vault stores valuables for later runs. A time-control feature can freeze time while a strategy is considered. Cloud saves cover most system data, including clear data and unlockables, but mid-game saves do not transfer.
How One Way Heroics plays
- 01Advancing Darkness
- Each move or action lets the encroaching void close in from the left, requiring continued travel to the right.
- 02Named Dimensions
- Enter a dimension name to revisit it, or type any word to create a world from that input.
- 03Dimensional Vault
- Store valuables between runs instead of carrying every extra item onward.
- 04Time Control
- Freeze time during a run to consider a strategy.
- 05Cloud Saves
- Most system data, including clear records and unlocks, can carry over, but mid-run saves cannot.
