Our take on Once Upon a Jester
Rather than centering its adventure on combat or conventional puzzles, the game makes improvised theatre the main way its protagonists progress. Audience choices, songs, jokes, and rival performances replace the usual action-game structure while the diamond-heist story supplies the broader journey.
What is Once Upon a Jester?
Play as Jester alongside his friend Sok in a fantasy adventure about improvised theatre and a plan to steal the Royal Diamond.
The pair travels across the kingdom, performs shows, sings, tells jokes, and competes with rival acts for an invitation to the Royal Theatrical Spectacle at the palace. Performances let players choose how to entertain each audience, with no two shows following the same pattern. Along the journey, Jester and Sok meet fully voiced characters including a Wendigo, a tree searching for its roots, and a blob of pesto. Locations include Dorp Town, Woudwoods, and Stad City, accompanied by an original soundtrack created by the game's developers.
