Our take on MacGuffin
Puzzle-focused players may bounce off when they reach the game's computer interactions and relatively simple challenges. Players expecting a long series of varied missions may hit the wall earlier, when the central objective remains focused on stealing one mysterious object.
What is MacGuffin?
Play as a thief sent into a Japanese nuclear power plant that is about to explode, with the goal of taking a mysterious object called the MacGuffin.
Instructions arrive through a smartphone while the mission unfolds in an alternate present. Progress involves hacking computers, solving relatively simple puzzles, uncovering the story, and completing the theft. The game also includes conversations with Richard, a phone-based fact generator, and music described as coming from another time and place. Exploration extends beyond the nuclear plant as the investigation develops and the mission moves toward discovering the truth behind the object.
