We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Side-scroller fans who want combat built around dodging and movement skills
- Action players who enjoy choosing among specialized weapons and combat machines
- Players seeking runs with adjustable enemy and boss difficulty
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want a slower-paced experience may hit a wall when combat demands dodging, dashing, and quick movement.
- Players who prefer a fixed challenge may find the higher Alert Levels, which increase enemy and boss hostility, a poor fit.
- Players looking for a primarily stealth or conversation-focused adventure may find the combat-centered scope limiting.
Our take on Oblivion Override
The likely bounce point is the combat itself: players who cannot keep up with dodges, double jumps, and wall runs may struggle to cross the underground areas and handle increasingly hostile enemies at higher Alert Levels.
What is Oblivion Override?
Oblivion Override is a side-scrolling action game set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland controlled by an AI.
Players guide Crimson, a rogue combat bot, through Dulce Base to uncover secrets tied to the Oblivion Code. Traversal uses dodges, double jumps, and wall runs across underground areas including an arms factory, a bio-engineered greenhouse, a data center, and an ancient-tech temple. Combat draws on more than 26 specialized weapons, each with distinct mechanics and skill effects. Six combat machines offer exclusive abilities, and Atomic Evolution can be accessed during a run. Players can also raise the Alert Level from Level I to Level VIII, increasing enemy and boss hostility and equipment.
How Oblivion Override plays
- 01Six combat machines
- Each machine has its own abilities, with options ranging from a ninja to a feline assassin.
- 02Adjustable alert levels
- Raising the setting from Level I to Level VIII increases enemy and boss hostility and equips them with advanced gear.
- 03Movement abilities
- Dodges, double jumps, and wall runs are used to move through the underground network.
