Is Atomcraft worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Sandbox players who want to construct machines from gathered environmental materials
- Chemistry-focused players who enjoy mining, smelting, and controlled reactions
- Systems builders interested in wiring, sensors, and logic gates rather than combat-led progression
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a conventional combat-centered action adventure may find the focus on construction and chemistry too specialized
- Players who prefer short, directed levels may not suit a game built around layered excavation and increasingly complex machines
- Players looking for a shelter-management survival game may prefer Mr. Prepper's underground-base structure
- Players seeking broad exploration across distinct zones may prefer Force of Nature's multi-zone format
Our take on Atomcraft
Instead of treating the world as a backdrop for exploration, Atomcraft makes its individual pixels the construction material and simulation system. Progression centers on assembling machines, routing signals, and controlling reactions, with planetary excavation and spaceship repair serving as longer-term structure.
What is Atomcraft?
Atomcraft is a sandbox adventure built around placing and manipulating individual environmental pixels.
Materials respond to nearby conditions, allowing players to assemble vessels and machines for chemical reactions. Drills and tools can be upgraded to reach deeper planetary layers and find new resources. Ore can be smelted, while constructed equipment extracts elements and performs chemistry. Mechanical components include conveyors, trapdoors, heating and cooling parts, wiring, controls, sensors, and logic gates. The game includes all 118 periodic-table elements, distributed across the planet and sometimes requiring creative extraction from ores. Players also repair a crashed spaceship piece by piece and investigate the world while developing increasingly complex systems. Some advanced materials require carefully controlled reactions because they can explode during construction.
How Atomcraft plays
- 01Pixel-Based Construction
- Environmental particles can be collected, repositioned, and assembled into working vessels and machines.
- 02Elemental Chemistry
- Mining and processing lead to reactions involving all 118 elements of the periodic table.
- 03Mechanical Components
- Build systems with conveyors, doors, temperature controls, wiring, sensors, switches, and logic gates.
- 04Planetary Excavation
- Improved drilling equipment opens access to deeper layers and additional materials.
- 05Spaceship Repair
- Progress includes restoring the systems of a crashed spacecraft piece by piece.
Atomcraft compared to similar games
Atomcraft centers on manipulating simulated pixels, extracting periodic-table elements, and building chemical and mechanical systems. Mr. Prepper focuses on preparing an underground shelter and resisting an authoritarian government, while Force of Nature combines gathering and crafting with exploration across more than 10 zones and its own flora and fauna.
