SimulationIs Nucleares worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Simulation players interested in operating a nuclear power plant rather than managing a general-purpose business
- Players who enjoy learning complex systems through experimentation instead of step-by-step tutorials
- Players drawn to balancing energy production, maintenance, and plant safety during emergency events
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a guided experience, since the game expects learning through experimentation, research, or community help
- Players who prefer a narrow set of controls may find the 200-plus parameters and 150 switches demanding
- Players looking for a puzzle game built around constructing factories may prefer SpaceChem's chemical-production challenges
Our take on Nucleares
Many simulation games simplify operation into a guided sequence; this one places the learning burden on experimentation, manuals, and research. Its focus is not just production, but the interaction of reactor controls, chemistry, maintenance, and emergencies.
What is Nucleares?
Operate a nuclear power plant by adjusting reactor power, coolant flow, steam generation, and other systems across several plant areas.
The simulation includes over 200 parameters and 150 switches, along with emergency events such as equipment failures, floods, and fires. Manage fuel use, maintenance costs, and energy goals, and use a tablet to handle reactor tasks remotely. An Operational Assistant supports ignition procedures, alarms, and crisis response, with further functions unlocked through upgrades. Reactor operations include nine fuel blocks, 72 control rods, and chemical systems for boric acid dosing, filtration, and pH management. Rather than relying on step-by-step tutorials, the game directs players to its manual, experimentation, research, and community knowledge.
How Nucleares plays
- 01Plant Systems
- Controls span the control room, containment and turbine buildings, and cooling towers.
- 02Remote Operations
- A tablet can be used to load or unload fuel blocks and manage the Operational Assistant.
- 03Reactor Chemistry
- Boric acid dosing, ion exchange, and coolant pH management affect reactor operation.
- 04Emergency Events
- Equipment failures, floods, and fires require operational responses.
- 05Progression Objectives
- Daily energy targets award Prestige and Experience Points, while leveling unlocks more challenging scenarios.
