Our take on Nowhere Prophet
The journey and follower-management elements sit alongside a card battler, but the store copy gives little detail on how individual encounters play out. Its clearest specifics are the generated routes, resource choices, and the permanent loss of wounded followers.
What is Nowhere Prophet?
Nowhere Prophet is a single-player roguelike card game about leading a convoy across the wastelands of Soma.
Travel on a procedurally generated map, choose routes, manage resources, and encounter situations that affect the followers’ fate. Rewards can be spent on deck improvements, recruiting followers, equipment, or skills for the Prophet. In turn-based battles, convoy cards place followers on the field, while action cards change the battlefield. Followers can be lost permanently after taking too many wounds, and the game features high difficulty and permadeath. More than 300 cards can be discovered across journeys. The setting follows a technological collapse and draws on Indian culture.
How Nowhere Prophet plays
- 01Route-based journeys
- Each run generates a new map, where route choices, resources, and encounters shape the convoy’s progress.
- 02Tactical card battles
- Convoy cards deploy followers to the battlefield, while action cards alter combat conditions.
- 03Follower recruitment
- New recruits provide additional units for battles and can contribute to deck development.
- 04Permanent follower loss
- Followers who suffer too many wounds are gone for good.
- 05Large card pool
- More than 300 cards are available to discover.
