Our take on Has-Been Heroes
Rather than following a straightforward heroic campaign, the game places aging champions on a school escort mission. Its lane-based battles also mix turn-based planning with real-time mechanics, while randomized runs replace a fixed adventure structure.
What is Has-Been Heroes?
Has-Been Heroes blends lane strategy with action, turn-based planning, and real-time combat.
Three characters move through separate lanes, timing close-range attacks, managing cooldowns, and combining spells against undead foes. Each attempt features a procedurally arranged map with merchants, spell sellers, chests, and crossroads. The game offers more than 300 spells, over 200 items, 13 regions, and 12 heroes. Maps, enemies, spells, and equipment are randomized between runs, while permadeath restarts the journey after defeat. Players guide twin princesses to school, unlock additional heroes, gather items, and adjust their approach as successive runs become harder.
