Our take on Monstrum
The premise emphasizes unpredictable ship layouts and predators, but the central loop remains an escape attempt built around searching for repair items, hiding, and restarting after death. The changing conditions add variation while the objective stays focused on leaving the ship.
What is Monstrum?
Monstrum is a survival horror game set aboard a derelict cargo ship.
Each play-through uses a changing ship layout, relocates items, and features one of three monster types with different behaviors and tactics. Players search the ship for items needed to repair escape routes while avoiding a pursuing creature. Hiding places include lockers and areas beneath furniture, while found objects can create distractions. The ship also contains traps that can punish careless movement. Death is permanent, so being killed starts a new attempt on a different ship, potentially against another monster. Escape depends on exploring the vessel, collecting necessary items, and choosing how to evade or misdirect the predator.
