Our take on Monobeno
The visual-novel format puts the emphasis on story, character relationships, and presentation rather than hands-on play. That focus leaves little room for action-based interaction, while the central mystery and romance carry the experience.
What is Monobeno?
Monobeno is a visual novel set in an isolated mountain village where humans and monsters live alongside one another.
Tooru Sawai returns after several years away and reunites with his sister, Natsuha, who has lost some memories. At a summer festival, Natsuha suddenly grows to adult size and suffers physically and mentally. Tooru looks for a way to help her, weighing illness against supernatural causes and drawing on the help of Alice, his childhood sweetheart, or Sumi, a monster. The story brings together village legends, family relationships, and romance. The main story is the first of two planned titles; After Story is described as a sequel DLC. The game includes illustrated scenes, music, and voice acting.
