Our take on Metrocide
Rather than giving stealth missions a forgiving retry structure, the game makes each run finite: one fatal mistake ends it. Its top-down arcade format also places contract killing, urban evasion, and permanent death at the center of a cyberpunk setting.
What is Metrocide?
Metrocide is a single-player top-down stealth shooter set in Metro City, a cyberpunk city filled with gangs, vigilantes, police, and aerial drones.
Players control contract killer T. J. Trench, moving through alleys and streets while completing assassination contracts. Weapons and deployable explosives support different approaches to each target, while cash from completed kills contributes to Trench’s attempt to escape the city. The game is divided into three zones with retro-futurist surroundings. A single mistake ends the run permanently: there are no respawns after death. Its structure combines arcade action with stealth, urban navigation, and contract-based progression, drawing inspiration from Syndicate and Grand Theft Auto.
How Metrocide plays
- 01Three city zones
- Progression takes place across three sections of Metro City with retro-futurist cyberpunk surroundings.
- 02Contract-based progression
- Completing kills earns cash as T.J. Trench works toward buying his way out of the city.
- 03Weapons and explosives
- The arsenal includes multiple weapons and explosives that can be placed around the environment.
- 04Permanent death
- A fatal mistake ends the current run because the game provides no respawns.
