Our take on Mermaid
The bounce point arrives when oxygen falls even during inactivity. Players must learn underwater movement and locate replenishment sources, then manage bubble-based scene transitions before reaching the submarine boss encounter.
What is Mermaid?
Set in a future where melting glaciers have left Earth covered by ocean, Mermaid follows a protagonist involved in the Merman Project, an effort to continue human civilization.
The game combines role-playing and adventure with underwater exploration. Missions guide dives to search for items, rescue hostages, pursue enemies, and operate a submarine. Movement takes place below the surface in a third-person 3D view, with oxygen steadily declining even while the protagonist remains still. Players must replenish oxygen and learn underwater movement. Bubbles can restore oxygen, increase speed, create danger, or lead to other scenes. Underwater channels connect areas and require bubble use for traversal. A submarine battle against a boss is also included.
How Mermaid plays
