Our take on Life Below
Players may bounce off when several environmental systems converge: algae, pH, temperature, acidity, limited space, infestations, and external disasters all demand attention while the reef expands.
What is Life Below?
Life Below is a strategy and simulation game about rebuilding coral reefs beneath the waves.
Players shape the ocean floor, use coral and seashells to generate energy and resources, and craft lures that attract more than 40 wildlife species. Each species contributes natural abilities for dealing with underwater hazards. The campaign follows Thalassa through hand-crafted animated scenes, while freeplay introduces new challenges. Reef management includes algae levels, pH balance, lionfish infestations, oil spills, garbage patches, temperature changes, acidity shifts, and limited space. Different ocean-floor zones require adaptation as the reef expands. A camera system supports close views of individual animals or observation of the wider colony.
How Life Below plays
- 01Wildlife Attraction
- Craft lures to bring more than 40 species, including coral crabs, monkfish, and hammerhead sharks, to the reef.
- 02Ecosystem Management
- Balance algae, pH, temperature, acidity, available space, and other conditions across different underwater zones.
- 03Environmental Threats
- Address hazards such as lionfish infestations, oil spills, garbage patches, and unstable ocean conditions.
- 04Campaign And Freeplay
- Follow Thalassa’s reef-restoration journey in campaign mode before taking on additional challenges in freeplay.
