The premise stresses an open-world search for humanity’s new home, but the experience is structured around 90 zones, resource collection, civilian shelter, crew assignments, and recurring alien encounters. The broad space-travel framing therefore sits alongside a defined survival and management loop.
What is Into the Stars?
Into the Stars places the player in command of Ark 13, humanity’s last remaining escape vessel.
The captain selects an inexperienced crew, equips the ship, and plots a route through a large star system while searching for a new home. The journey involves collecting resources, sheltering civilians, and facing a hostile alien force that can be evaded or attacked. Ship combat uses targeted volleys, with crew assignments and battle stations affecting encounters. The system contains 90 zones with different opportunities and hazards. Difficulty settings adjust enemy pressure and journey pace. Random obstacles and captain decisions can change mission outcomes, producing different runs. The game includes an original score by Jack Wall.
