Our take on Howl
Rather than keeping enemy intentions hidden until a turn resolves, Howl lets the heroine foresee their actions and plan up to six steps ahead. That shifts tactical play toward anticipating a sequence of moves, within a level-based folktale structure.
What is Howl?
Howl is a turn-based tactical puzzle game set in a medieval folktale world where a plague spreads through the sound of howling beasts.
The deaf heroine is protected from the curse and sets out to find a cure. Combat lets players forecast enemy actions and plan up to six steps ahead, using different arrows and skills against beasts with varied attack patterns and durability. A world map provides routes to skills and hidden paths, while villagers can be rescued from the wolves.
The game has 60 levels across four chapters, plus 18 levels in the free Heart of Rot chapter. That side story has its own map and plot, new enemies, a boss level, environmental mechanics, a skill, and an ally who joins in later levels. Visuals use a flowing ink style.
