Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want time to pause and plan during combat may hit a wall in Warpath, where the glitch field advances behind them.
- Players who prefer low-pressure runs may struggle with Onslaught's increased elite enemies and midpoint mini-boss.
- Players looking for a climbing or action-puzzle adventure will find the focus here is combat across hostile worlds.
Our take on Heckpoint
Warpath is the likely bounce point for players who need time to stop between fights: the advancing glitch field keeps pushing the run forward. Onslaught also raises the pressure with more elite enemies and a midpoint mini-boss, so players seeking a gentler pace may find Normal a better match.
What is Heckpoint?
Heckpoint is a side-scrolling shooter with bullet-hell, hack-and-slash, and roguelite elements.
Players fight enemies across procedurally generated worlds, breaking the environment and switching between ranged weapons and close combat. Twelve characters have individual abilities and weapons. Strange matter collected in the game can be traded for more than 70 upgrades, and stats can also be improved permanently at the Gene Works. Load-outs can combine weapons, special abilities, and stat enhancements in up to 8 slots.
Runs offer different rules: Normal is a practice-oriented mode with fewer hazards, Endless pits the player against continuing enemy waves, while Onslaught and Warpath add tougher pressure. Bosses guard the route to an obelisk that opens the next world. The game also includes Spooky World and T Day for honing skills.
