Our take on Project Absentia
Rather than keeping movement on a flat plane, the game makes gliding, aerial attacks, and gaining height central to its shooter structure. Its levels also treat ordinary objects, from mirrors to mini-golf equipment, as part of the play space.
What is Project Absentia?
Project Absentia is a retro first-person shooter inspired by 2000s and 2010s Flash animations and sprite comics.
Players control Abby, an angel escaping the Orkan Corporation while trying to free her captured girlfriend Aurora and friend Orion. Movement centers on jumping, gliding, aerial combat, and gaining higher ground. Levels represent locations such as mines, castles, apartments, entertainment districts, and derelict ships. Weapons include a Tommy Gun, freeze weapon, missile launcher, double-barreled shotgun, health-draining plant, and Rainbowitzer. Environments contain interactive objects including vending machines, breakable glass, mini-golf, water coolers, and mirrors. The game includes a fully voiced cast, subtitles, speech control, and adjustable field of view.
