Our take on Gunvein
Rather than treating score as a separate tally, Gunvein feeds points back into play through extra lives and shop currency. Its Arrange Mode also replaces a fixed stage sequence with procedural versions of five stages, while preserving the pressure and encounter variety of arcade-style runs.
What is Gunvein?
Gunvein is a bullet-hell shoot ’em up built around aggressive play.
Lock-on lasers, charged attacks, bombs, and hypers let players control crowded screens and defeat enemies before incoming fire becomes overwhelming. Resources earned through aggressive actions can temporarily strengthen the ship’s shot or trigger a screen-clearing bomb. Score also feeds into extra lives and shop currency. Arcade Mode uses single-credit runs and online leaderboards, while Standard Mode adds checkpoints and shop progression. Roguelike Arrange Mode reshapes the game’s five stages procedurally, with Classic progression and Minimal runs. Missions include tutorials, boss rushes, and score attacks. Three ships provide distinct approaches based on speed, coverage, or planned bomb placement.
