Our take on Guards II: Chaos in Hell
Rather than giving players a broad menu of commands each turn, the game makes hero positioning the central tactical choice. Swapping two characters determines who attacks, who recovers, and whether a special ability activates, replacing conventional turn-based action selection with formation management.
What is Guards II: Chaos in Hell?
Guards II: Chaos in Hell is a tactical, turn-based strategy game built around a squad of four heroes.
Each turn allows one action: exchanging the positions of two heroes. Three heroes attack from the front while the fourth recovers in the rear, and bringing a hero forward can trigger a special ability. Eight heroes offer different attacks, resistances, weaknesses, stances, and upgrade paths. Players combine abilities and alter formations to exploit enemy vulnerabilities. The campaign crosses five realms inspired by Egyptian, Japanese, Scandinavian, Slavic, and classical legends, with 80 levels. Hell Mode adds 80 further stages featuring new enemies and higher difficulty. Heroes can receive temporary enhancements from demonic essence between battles.
