Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players looking for a long campaign; play ends when the last character in any family dies.

- Players seeking a game centered on direct physical action rather than playing cards.
Our take on Gloom: Digital Edition
The defining scoring twist is that players lower their own family’s Self-Worth while raising rival families’ scores; the lowest Family Value wins.
What is Gloom: Digital Edition?
Gloom is a card game for one to four participants.
On each turn, a player takes two actions while directing an unusual family toward tragedy and bringing cheer to opposing families. Modifier cards placed on characters record misfortunes that reduce Self-Worth, while pleasant events increase opponents’ scores. Event cards may allow extra draws, restore a character to life, or remove the uppermost modifier from another character. Untimely Death cards eliminate characters through different causes. Play concludes as soon as one family loses its final character. Victory goes to the player whose family has the lowest total Family Value.
How Gloom: Digital Edition plays
- 01Character modifiers
- Mishap cards lower Self-Worth on the player’s own characters, while happy occasions add points to opponents’ characters.
- 02Fate-changing events
- Event cards can provide a chance to draw, offer a character a second chance in life, or remove another character’s top modifier.
- 03Family-ending deaths
- Untimely Death cards can kill characters, and the game ends when any family has no characters remaining.
