Our take on Germinal
Germinal replaces a conventional platforming focus on movement alone with a story that ties rising difficulty to Greg’s fear of contamination. Its five-stage structure also combines hard modes with replay-based searches for additional narrative details.
What is Germinal?
Germinal is a precision platformer set during an epidemic.
Players guide Greg through quarantine using a disinfectant jetpack to jump, hover, and clean. The game contains five stages with over 500 rooms, along with a hard mode for every stage. Greg’s developing fear of contamination appears through increasingly difficult gameplay. Replaying stages supports movement mastery and searching for additional story details. Features include remappable controls, infinite fuel, invincibility, fixed jump height, and settings for screenshake, rumble, brightness, glitch effects, backgrounds, and transition animations. Colour-blind play and high-contrast fuel are available, while a fall assistant indicates whether a landing is near danger.
