Is GunHero worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Fans of 2D action platformers who want a campaign with more than 100 levels
- Friends looking for local couch co-op with shooting and platforming
- Players interested in creating, playing, and rating custom stages
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a quiet or meditative pace may find the frequent combat, traps, and explosions unsuitable
- Those who prefer compact campaigns may not want a structure built around more than 100 levels and additional custom stages
- Players looking specifically for climbing puzzles or roguelite weapon modification may prefer alternatives centered on those systems
Our take on GunHero
Rather than ending with a fixed set of platforming stages, GunHero adds player-made content to the campaign structure. Its editor, browser, and rating tools make custom level participation part of the game alongside the authored environments, combat encounters, and rescue objectives.
What is GunHero?
GunHero is a 2D action-platformer shooter with more than 100 handcrafted levels across six environments.
Players battle enemy troops, collect weapons from defeated foes, throw grenades, use a shield, and rescue prisoners and hostages. Levels contain hazards such as spike balls, laser beams, elevators, missile launchers, propellers, blade spinners, tanks, lava, and fireball cannons. Double jumping, ladder climbing, and moving platforms shape traversal, while boss fights punctuate the campaign. Difficulty settings, a progress map, achievements, cloud saves, remappable controls, keyboard and mouse support, and controller support are included. Couch co-op allows friends to tackle levels together. Steam Workshop features an in-game editor and browser for creating, playing, and rating custom stages.
