Is CONTRACTED worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Action players who want one-hit enemy attacks and infection hazards
- Horror shooter fans who prefer both close-quarter and open-area maps
- Solo players seeking a score-focused Horde Mode with weapon purchases
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want forgiving combat will hit a wall when an infected bite kills in one attack.
- Players who prefer low-pressure shooting may struggle once weapon strikes expose them to contaminating blood.
- Players seeking a story-led role-playing campaign may find the outbreak missions too focused on clearing areas.
- Players who dislike gore or violent combat may reject the infected encounters and blood effects.
Our take on CONTRACTED
The bounce point is the combat penalty for mistakes: an infected grab can end a run immediately, while melee attacks can expose the agent to blood that causes disorientation and death. Players who rely on sustained close-range fighting will encounter that system quickly.
What is CONTRACTED?
Play as an agent for Harmond Intl sent to contain outbreaks in locations including hospitals, caves, and campgrounds.
Infected enemies kill with a single bite unless a timed melee attack forces them back. Weapon impacts can spill contaminated blood, causing player disorientation and eventual death. The arsenal includes eight weapons, with six unlocked through reputation, ranging from suppressed pistols to grenade launchers. Maps include tight indoor areas and open spaces. Enemies react to nearby noise, detect line of sight, and search the player’s last known location. A score-based Horde Mode removes reloading, drops ammunition from defeated infected, prevents explosion damage to the player, and uses coins for weapon purchases.

CONTRACTED compared to similar games
CONTRACTED is a first-person outbreak shooter built around infected enemies, weapon progression, stealth options, and score-based Horde Mode. Apocryph: an old-school shooter also offers first-person combat, but places it in a dark fantasy setting with swords, magic, castles, shrines, and dungeons rather than outbreak-clearing missions.
