What is Variant 22?
Variant 22 is a survival shooter set in a procedurally generated post-American wasteland.
Solo players or cooperative groups enter contaminated areas by railway, search for gear and resources, evade or fight infected creatures and NAR patrols, then reach an exit and return with extracted loot. Safe zones provide space for base construction, crafting, and weapon improvements, while recurring infected waves require defense. Runs vary in contamination and patrol activity, and exposure time is limited by the conditions. Gas masks and blocker pills extend time in affected areas. Weapons include interchangeable attachments, different ammunition types, performance attributes, and maintenance requirements. Survival also involves food, drink, health, temperature, and contamination exposure. The stated end goal is a westward escape from NAR control.
