Our take on Forbidden Art
The game prioritizes environmental immersion and physical VR interaction, giving up built-in guidance in the process. Players must inspect rooms, manage clues, and work through challenging puzzles without an in-game hint system.
What is Forbidden Art?
Forbidden Art is a VR escape-room puzzle game set in a killer’s hidden lair.
Players begin in a dungeon and search secret passages, studies, morgues, vents, a chapel, and other areas for a way out without being seen. Puzzles use objects and clues found throughout the environment, with no in-game hint system. The game includes a lighter and flashlight for dark sections, a writable diary for recording notes, and interactions with hundreds of objects. Rotation and height settings support seated play, standing play, or a combination of both. Movement can use controllers, or players can walk through the map in a 6m by 6m room-scale setup.
How Forbidden Art plays
- 01Environmental puzzle solving
- Clues and usable inventory items are placed throughout the hideout, and the game provides no built-in hints.
- 02Room-scale movement

- 03Seated play settings
- Rotation controls and adjustable height support seated, standing, and hybrid play modes.
- 04Interactive environment
- Hundreds of objects can be picked up or examined, with some offering special interactions.
- 05Dark-area tools
- A lighter and a flashlight provide illumination in sections where visibility is required to continue.
