We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Fantasy role-playing fans who want tactical, turn-based combat with spells and creatures.
- Players who prefer campaign missions with multiple routes to completion.
- Groups seeking internet co-op battles and card-based multiplayer modes.
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking real-time combat may find the turn-based battles too deliberate.
- Those wanting an open-ended world rather than five campaign-based journeys may find the structure restrictive.
- Players who do not want fantasy settings built around magic, creatures, and multiple races may not find the theme suitable.
Our take on Etherlords II
The description presents broad tactical variety through hundreds of spells and creatures, but the main progression remains organized around five campaigns and their missions. The card combinations expand combat choices without changing that campaign-based structure.
What is Etherlords II?
Etherlords II blends character development with spell-and-creature strategy in turn-based battles.
Across five campaigns, a hero travels through a fantasy setting and tackles missions that allow different routes to the objective. Progression during each campaign adds skills, magic, creatures, and other abilities to the hero. The game also introduces monsters and spells that are available across all four races. A tutorial teaches both introductory and more advanced approaches to dueling. Internet multiplayer provides four modes, including cooperative fights and Round Table, where players face a round-robin knockout competition with randomly selected cards. Multiplayer statistics and ratings are computed and stored by a dedicated master server.
