Our take on Envy the Dead
Players who depend on keeping every character alive will hit the wall when food and medicine run short. The game explicitly allows survivors to starve, become infected, die in battle, or be lost through accidents, so group management can force permanent losses.
What is Envy the Dead?
Lead a group of randomly generated survivors across ruined, zombie-infested lands.
Exploration follows a node-based route with random encounters involving supplies, zombies, bandits, and other survivors. Each character has distinct personalities, skills, and traits, while injuries, infection, death, and accidents can change the group’s makeup. Food and medicine are limited, creating situations where the group cannot always be fully supplied.
Hundreds of events present choices with serious consequences, such as deciding whether to rescue a captured companion, abandon them, or exchange supplies. Combat uses tower-defense mechanics: defend against waves of zombies or groups of survivors with character abilities, cooperation, and defensive structures. The game is presented as a hardcore roguelike, so individual journeys can end through battle, illness, accidents, or shortages.
