Our take on Dead Matter
Rather than centering only on fighting zombies, the game combines open-world multiplayer with food, hydration, wound care, scavenging, field crafting, and settlement contracts. Gunfire also creates a tactical cost by drawing the Infected toward the player.
What is Dead Matter?
Dead Matter is an open-world multiplayer zombie survival game set in Alberta’s Kananaskis valley after a viral outbreak collapses society.
Survivors explore areas including the Rocky Mountains, Canmore, and Banff while facing large groups of Infected and rival survivors. Food, hydration, injuries, and wound disinfection require ongoing management. Firearms attract nearby Infected, while melee weapons become difficult to use against groups. Scavenged materials can be turned into field bandages or used to modify equipment, such as adding nails to a baseball bat. The Dominion survivor settlement offers mercenary jobs that pay with money or gear, with further quest development planned during Early Access. A Nightly branch provides access to changes and content before they reach the Release branch.
