Our take on DYSMANTLE
Players expecting a focused combat campaign may hit a wall when progress calls for repeated gathering, breaking objects, crafting, and clearing areas. The wider loop also includes puzzles, farming, fishing, and cooking, which can pull attention away from combat.
What is DYSMANTLE?
DYSMANTLE is a post-apocalyptic action adventure set on a handcrafted open-world island.
Exploration involves breaking most objects for materials, finding technology and ancient knowledge, solving puzzles above and below ground, and uncovering the island’s mysteries. Combat uses melee and ranged weapons, traps, and lures; players can also run from creatures and return later. Gathered resources go toward permanent weapons, tools, outfits, and trinkets. Players can clear areas of monsters, build outposts, hunt or tame animals, farm plants, fish, and cook recipes for permanent stat and ability upgrades. Hunger does not cause death. Progression includes gaining strength and finding a way to escape the island.

DYSMANTLE compared to similar games
Like Mr. Prepper, DYSMANTLE combines survival and crafting, but it centers on exploring an island, fighting creatures, breaking objects for materials, and finding an escape route; Mr. Prepper focuses on building an underground shelter and preparing for a nuclear-war threat. Force of Nature also combines action, adventure, RPG, strategy, and management, while DYSMANTLE emphasizes reclaiming island areas, permanent gear progression, and object-based material gathering.
