Our take on Don't Sink
The adventure framing gives equal weight to exploration and piracy, but the day-to-day structure also involves rationing supplies, managing crew needs, and resolving island economics. Those management duties are central to progression rather than incidental activities between battles.
What is Don't Sink?
This sandbox pirate RPG combines island exploration, naval combat, town defense, and island governance.
Sailing between islands expands territorial control and reputation, while conversations with residents reveal rumors and local origins. Sea voyages can trigger events such as illness among the crew, requiring suitable supplies and experience. Crew morale, hunger, and thirst must be managed through food and water planning, including possible rationing on long trips. Conquered islands present economic problems to resolve. Larger ships can be purchased as the pirate career progresses, including the Galleon and Man of War. The game also includes exploration-focused cutscenes, community translation tools, a career leaderboard spanning multiple saves, developer discussion access, and save compatibility between updates.
