Our take on Die by the Blade
The single-strike format makes each exchange consequential, but leaves little room to recover from a mistake. Its focus on weapon-led duels also trades a broad range of match formats for close, opponent-focused combat.
What is Die by the Blade?
Die by the Blade is a one-on-one weapon fighter set in a samuraipunk world.
Matches have no health bars, and a single strike can end a fight. Players choose a character and weapon combination; the weapon determines the moveset, with options including the two-handed nodachi and katana. Combat centers on reading opponents, parrying, dodging and exploiting mistakes. The game includes local and online multiplayer, ranked matches, Practice Mode and Tournament Mode. Battles take place in settings such as Japanese temples, countryside fields and city streets. Character and weapon customization uses numerous components, and characters have minor stat differences associated with certain playstyles.
