Our take on Akane
The defining constraint is the one-hit combat rule: most enemies die from a single strike, turning the single arena into a test of positioning, timing, and survival.
What is Akane?
Akane is an arena arcade slasher set in the rain-soaked streets of Mega-Tokyo in 2121 A.
D. The objective is to defeat as many yakuza as possible in a fight where most enemies die from one hit. Five enemy types include regular yakuza, a tank that withstands a single strike, a shooter, a cyber ninja, and Katsuro, a boss whose behavior changes as he is defeated repeatedly.
Missions unlock equipment, including guns, ability-granting katanas, cigarettes that alter the look of special abilities, combat gadgets, and boots that change movement. Akane can use Dragon Slash to cut through enemies in her path and Dragon Slayer to eliminate every enemy on screen. The game takes place in one arena populated by pedestrians and neon advertisements.
