Our take on Descent
Its six-degree movement creates a distinctive spatial combat style, but that freedom also makes navigation more disorienting than in shooters built around mostly horizontal movement. The fixed 27-level campaign provides a defined route rather than an open-ended structure.
What is Descent?
Descent is a first-person action game set in fully three-dimensional mine environments.
Players take the role of the Material Defender, investigating the loss of contact with miners and malfunctioning robots at Lunar Base I. The campaign spans 27 levels, traveling from the Moon to Pluto while navigating shafts and tunnels in six degrees of freedom. Combat involves shooting robotic threats in any direction, with upward and downward movement alongside conventional motion. The game includes light-source shading, texture mapping, 3D morphing, directional sound effects, and music. Multiplayer supports head-to-head combat, cooperative play for two via modem, and network matches for up to eight players.

Descent compared to similar games
Descent focuses on first-person combat across 27 fully three-dimensional levels with six degrees of freedom, while Hentai Vs Furries is a third-person shooter with five camera angles, quests, unlockable skins, and a main mode plus a separate “Pleasure” mode. Abyssus combines multiplayer shooting with hand-crafted levels, roguelite progression, and weapon refitting using ancient technologies; Descent instead offers a defined campaign alongside head-to-head and cooperative multiplayer.
