Our take on Depths of Fear :: Knossos
Rather than following a fixed adventure path, the game places Theseus in repeatedly changing labyrinths where progress depends on adapting between stealth, escape, and combat. Its journey toward the Minotaur is framed as an ongoing survival challenge rather than a single predictable descent.
What is Depths of Fear :: Knossos?
Play as Theseus in a first-person Greek-themed roguelike adventure set beneath Knossos.
Each labyrinth stage changes between runs and is populated by eight legendary creatures, including Cerberus, Medusa, Hydra, and the Minotaur. Survival combines sneaking, fleeing, and direct combat. Gold found in the labyrinth can be exchanged with Daedalus for eight weapons, while creature medallions unlock a master sword capable of harming the Minotaur. Books found during exploration can earn favor from the gods and grant powers associated with Zeus, Hermes, Poseidon, and Apollo. After the main adventure, an endless challenge continues below the entrance. Music changes with the character’s situation through a tension-based soundtrack.
