Our take on Theseus
Theseus departs from a common VR perspective by placing the action in third person and combining stationary and moving camera views. It also recasts the mythic hero as a survivor facing the Minotaur, rather than presenting a straightforward conquering hero.
What is Theseus?
Theseus reimagines the Minotaur myth as a virtual reality journey through a dangerous maze.
After awakening in an unknown location, the player follows Ariadne’s voice through shadowy passages and rooms, guided toward a far-off beam. Exploration, narrative, and battles unfold with a film-like presentation as Theseus confronts the Minotaur’s followers and ultimately the beast itself. The game uses a third-person VR viewpoint that alternates between fixed and moving camera positions. Its protagonist is portrayed as someone trying to survive, not as a victorious warrior. On PC, players can use upgraded visual presentation and modify options intended for demanding hardware.
