Our take on Dead End City
Fuel management adds a resource constraint to the arcade shooting: attention must stay on collecting fuel as well as avoiding attacks. The game also centers repeated score attempts, which favors high-score play over broad exploration or a long-form campaign.
What is Dead End City?
Dead End City is a post-apocalyptic vertical arcade shooter in which a heavily armed car travels through wasteland territory controlled by the Scorpio gang.
Fuel continuously drains, so runs require collecting fuel while dodging enemy fire. Arcade Mode contains five areas, each divided into a road section, stronghold, and boss encounter. Collecting enough fuel can power up the normal shot and build a score multiplier when enemies are hit. Sub-weapons use collected ammunition and can spawn pickup items. Score Attack Mode focuses on practicing individual territories. Local and Steam leaderboards track each character type and mode, while Shop Points from each play unlock extras. Keyboard and gamepad controls can be remapped, and enemy bullet color can be adjusted.
How Dead End City plays
- 01Five-area campaign
- Each area combines a road segment, a stronghold, and a boss fight.
- 02Fuel-powered shooting
- Filling the tank beyond its normal level strengthens the main shot and supports score multiplier growth.
- 03Ammunition sub-weapons
- Collected ammo activates secondary weapons that can destroy enemies and spawn pickup items.
- 04Score-focused modes
- Score Attack Mode lets players practice territories, with leaderboards covering each character type and mode.
- 05Control adjustments
- Keyboard or gamepad inputs can be customized, and enemy bullet colors can be changed.
