We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Sokoban fans who want additional route-planning rules

- Commodore 64 enthusiasts seeking retro-inspired visuals and audio
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players who want action-focused horror may bounce off the deliberate block-pushing structure.
- Players who dislike planning multiple sheep routes may hit a wall when paths cannot be shared.
- Players seeking combat, climbing, or role-playing systems may find the puzzle-focused scope too narrow.
Our take on Dark Sheep
The likely bounce point arrives when sheep routes begin to interact: a move that works for one animal can block another because paths cannot overlap. Players who prefer improvisation over planning may stop there, even with unlimited undos available.
What is Dark Sheep?
Lead sheep across 60 puzzle rooms whose difficulty rises over time, in a horror setting modeled on Commodore 64-era graphics and sound.
The core design draws from Sokoban but introduces extra constraints: sheep follow grass bait into cages as part of a cult ceremony, and each animal needs its own route. Every move can be undone without limit. The music uses authentic technology from 1989, creating an 8-bit style influenced by the Commodore 64. Keyboard input is mandatory; mouse support is available as an option. A CRT setting can also alter the screen’s appearance.
How Dark Sheep plays
- 01Sheep Luring
- Grass acts as bait for guiding sheep into cages, and each sheep must use a separate path.
- 02Sixty Puzzle Levels
- The stages become more difficult as the game progresses.
- 03Infinite Undos
- Moves can be reversed without a stated limit.
- 04Retro Audio
- The music uses genuine equipment from 1989 to produce an 8-bit sound influenced by Commodore 64 audio.
- 05CRT Display Mode
- An optional mode provides a CRT-style visual presentation.
