RPGIs CyberHive worth it for you?
We tell you who should skip it, too.
Play it if you…
Good fit- Strategy players who want resource management combined with space travel
- Adventure fans who prefer branching stories and consequential choices
- Players interested in unusual anime-styled science-fiction settings with insectoid factions
Skip it if you…
Saves you a refund- Players seeking a tightly linear story may lose interest when outcomes depend on repeated choices and faction decisions
- Players who want action-focused combat may hit a wall at the ship-management and resource-planning systems
- Players looking for a short, self-contained narrative may not want survival cycles, exploration, and recurring events
Our take on CyberHive
The bounce point arrives when survival management takes over: players must balance food, crew growth, ship condition, course, and resources while events keep introducing new decisions. Anyone expecting a mostly passive story may hit that systems-heavy command layer early.
What is CyberHive?
CyberHive is a space travel simulator set in an anime-styled cosmic opera.
As commander of the Melistar, players manage an intelligent bee crew, protect the ship from hostile attacks, gather resources, maintain food supplies, and improve the vessel. The journey includes changing alliances and conflicts among insectoid factions, with trading, fighting, exploration, and choices that affect the story. Shipboard events range from crew disputes and passenger problems to smuggling incidents and encounters with a legendary pirate vessel. Some events advance the narrative while others occur randomly. Players can pursue survival through alternating space cycles and dwindling resources, or investigate a branching mystery by finding artifacts and knowledge on distant planets.
How CyberHive plays
- 01Ship Management
- Players maintain the Melistar’s combat readiness, supplies, course, upgrades, and crew status.
- 02Branching Decisions
- Choices during encounters and faction conflicts can alter the course of the narrative.
- 03Insectoid Factions
- The setting includes competing groups such as the Merchant Guild, League of Smugglers, Ants, Locusts, and Blood Suckers.
- 04Event Encounters
- The crew faces both narrative events and random incidents, including disputes, smuggling problems, and a pirate-ship encounter.
- 05Artifact Exploration
- Distant planets contain ancient artifacts and fragments of knowledge about the universe’s past.
