Our take on Cursed Words: The Word Game That Isn't
Rather than preserving a stable word-puzzle format, the game treats words as a starting point for rule-breaking runs. Its inputs can shift into numbers, symbols, chess pieces, or the void, replacing familiar vocabulary play with escalating roguelike experimentation.
What is Cursed Words: The Word Game That Isn't?
Cursed Words begins as a word game and gradually transforms its rules during each roguelike run.
Players combine Characters, Sticker upgrades, Stamp loadouts, and consumable Tiles to create different scoring setups. A standard attempt contains five stages, with two encounters and a boss in each stage; clearing the fifth stage completes the run. The game includes 11 Characters, 300 Stickers and Stamps, 20 bosses, and 26 Challenges. Special Challenge and Crown tiers modify the rules, while Quests add specific conditions. Word inputs can eventually become numbers, symbols, chess pieces, or other altered forms. Secret items, shops, and boss interactions add further run variation.
